IND vs. WI Series: The series of three ODIs and three T20 matches between India and West Indies will start from February 6. Rising T20 batsman Shah Rukh Khan of Tamil Nadu and his state teammate Ravi Srinivas Sai Kishore will join the Indian team as reserve players for the series against West Indies. Shah Rukh Khan and Sai Kishore played a significant role in Tamil Nadu’s success in domestic limited overs tournaments. Faced with the threat of Covid-19, both have joined the team as a precaution. If any player from the main team tests positive during the tournament then that will be their option.

Confirming this, a senior BCCI official said that Shah Rukh Khan and Sai Kishore have been called up as alternates for the West Indies series. They will also enter a biobubble (biosecure environment) with the main team players. The limited overs series will kick off with a three-match ODI series, to be played in Ahmedabad from February 6. After this, the T20 International series of equal number of matches will be played in Kolkata. Sai Kishore was part of a group of net shooters in the Indian team that toured Sri Lanka last year under coach Rahul Dravid. He is becoming a part of the national team for the second time.

Shahrukh Khan has been in the running for a place in the main team for some time now. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final against Karnataka this season, he played a key role in his team becoming champions by hitting a six on the last ball. Sai Kishore also took three wickets in this match. Similarly, he scored 79 runs on 39 balls against Karnataka himself in the Vijay Hazare Trophy quarterfinals and chipped in 42 runs on 21 balls against Himachal in the final.
