The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had suggested several changes to the Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starring film ‘Pathan’. These also include changes to the controversial song ‘Besharam Rang’. From dialogue changes to the censorship of various scenes, CBFC had called for more than 10 cuts in ‘Pathan’.

whereas, according to a Bollywood Hungama report, the word ‘Raw’ has been replaced with ‘our’, while ‘langde lulle’ has been replaced with ‘torn feet’, ‘PM’ with ‘Rashtrapati or Mantri’ and 13 places with “PMO”. The word has been removed. ‘Ashok Chakra’ was replaced by ‘Veer Award’, ‘Ex-KGB’ by ‘Ex-SBU’ and ‘Mrs Bharatmata’ by ‘Hamari Bharatmata’. The report further states that the word Scotch was replaced with ‘drink’, while the text ‘Black Prison, Russia’ featured in the film was replaced with ‘Black Prison’.

Speaking of ‘Besharam Rang’, the report claims that various close-ups, ‘side pose’ shots and the sultry dance moves during the ‘Bahut Tang Kiya’ lyrics have been censored and replaced with ‘proper shots’. However, it is not confirmed if Deepika Padukone’s controversial orange swimsuit has been censored or not.

Speaking of cuts from the film, CBFC President Prasoon Joshi told PTI: “Let me reiterate that our culture and faith are glorious, complex and nuanced. And you have to be careful that it is not defined by trivialities that divert the focus from what is real and true. And as I said before, it is very important to protect the trust between the creators and the audience and the creators must continue to work in this direction. After these cuts, ‘Pathan’ received a U/A certificate. We tell you that ‘Pathan’, directed by Siddharth Anand, will be released in theaters on January 25, 2023.
