Scientists’ “Google Maps” adds 10,000 Spanish researchers in one year

The number of Spanish researchers, whether working in Spain or abroad, and foreigners conducting research in Spanish centers and universities is 123,000 scientists, 10,000 more than a year ago, the latest study says Google Scholar entry data (Google Scholar).

The Supreme Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) has just updated the latest classification of this prestigious database, which is the most complete in Spain and includes: 123,000 professional profiles.

The rankings, promoted by a team from the Institute of Public Policies and Goods (IPP-CSIC), include researchers from more than 5,000 national and international organizations, although the CSIC is the institution with the highest profile (more than 6,400 scientists). Of the total number of scientists, about 60% are men and 40% are women.

Betweens centers that are part of the organismThese include the Spanish Institute of Oceanography (IEO-CSIC), the National Museum of Natural Sciences (MNCN-CSIC), the National Center for Biotechnology (CNB-CSIC) and the Institut de Ciència de Materials de Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC). This is followed by the complutense universities of Madrid with 5,973 profiles, Granada with 4,563, Seville with 4,141 and Barcelona with almost 4,000 profiles.
