Saudi Arabia has indicated the return of Syria to the Arab League

Saudi Arabia has hinted at Syria’s return to the Arab League, but has also said that it would be premature to discuss such a move.

According to the Al-Arabiya report, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, speaking to the media in London, said that the increase in relations with Syria could be helpful for its return to the Arab League after more than 10 years of isolation, however. It would be premature to discuss such a move at present.

He said that there is a growing consensus in the Arab world that it is not beneficial to isolate Syria, it is necessary to talk with Syria to remove the concerns, especially in the Arab League of Damascus to deal with the humanitarian situation there. There may be a return.

On the question of inviting Syria to the Arab League summit, the Saudi Foreign Minister said that it is too early to talk about it, but I can say that there is a consensus in the Arab world and that the status quo cannot continue. That means we have to find a way to overcome it.

Arab League meeting

It should be noted that Syria was largely isolated from the rest of the Arab world in 2011 after a bloody crackdown on protests against the government of President Bashar al-Assad, and in the same year the Arab League suspended Syria’s membership and many Arab countries also recalled their ambassadors.
