Quickly, the NBA has assured that it will investigate what happened and the Grizzlies have reacted by removing him from the team for at least two games. But the reaction of the player was missing, who is already here: in a somewhat cryptic statement, the point guard, an NBA star, has assured that he is going to take some time to reflect on his actions, in addition to apologizing to the Grizzlies community and to the fans for their inappropriate behavior.
“I take full responsibility for my actions last night and apologize to my family, teammates, the city of Memphis and the entire Grizzlies organization whom I have let down.”, says the message. It doesn’t end there:I am going to take some time away from the team to get help and work on learning how to deal with my stress and mental health”, he assures. A somewhat confusing message, since it does not specify how long he is going to be away from the slopes or what exactly he is going to do during it.
The situation is complicated for the Grizzlies and extremely controversial for the NBA. The North American competition, which claims to be one of the most progressive in the United States and bases its niche of influence around young people, from where they gather a large audience. The League already had to deal with the issue raised by Kyrie’s recommendations for a documentary based on an anti-Semitic book a few months ago, and now it finds itself with another mountain to climb when it comes to Ja Morant. Again: continue the mess.
