Santo Domingo and Santiago lead the Champions Cup

The women’s sextet from the Santo Domingo province (Calero) and the men’s sextet from Santiago (North) won their two commitments this weekend and lead the Superior Volleyball Champions Cup, whose third stage was staged in the municipal multipurpose venues of Nigua and Cabral .

Calero, who leads with an impressive 7-0 record, beat La Romana (East) 25-14, 25-19, 25-20, who with a record of 0-7 are eliminated despite two rounds remaining before the final.

In their second match, the women from the capital, with the mastery of their stellar setter Mía Liberato, recovered from a bad start and defeated La Vega (Norte) 28-30, 25-18, 25-21, 25-18, who previously it had also been surpassed by San Cristóbal (South) in four sets (22-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-13.

The southerners occupy the second position in the women’s branch of the Champions Cup with a 5-2 mark, while the vegans are in third with a negative 2-5.

In the men’s division, Santiago beat the Eastern team (Bayaguana) 20-25, 25-18, 25-23, 25-19 on Saturday at the Cabral, Barahona stadium.

On Sunday, the representative of Ciudad Corazón put his mark at 5-2 by also beating Santo Domingo (Villa Carmen) in four sets 25-20, 25-15, 19-21, 25-21.

The Santo Domingo team, which with a 4-3 record escort Santiago, had the best match of this stop against the Laguneros de Cabral, current champions, with a score of 25-22, 18-25, 23-25, 27, 25, 15-13.
