San Cristóbal and Calero win in the Champions Cup

San Cristóbal, showing the representation of the South in the women’s branch, beat La Vega (North) 25-15, 25-22, 25-21 at the start of the Volleyball Champions Cup.

Cándida Marte, the stellar center back of the senior national team, led the attack for the southerners with 15 goals in the game played at the Club Calero sports center, followed by Alondra Reyes (13).

For the vegans, Amelia Smith had 13 and Marisol Cornelio, in a performance below, only scored three.

Club Calero (Santo Domingo) ruled the East zone (La Romana) 25-10, 25-19, 25-19, mainly supported by the attack of Johanna Montero and Katelle Alonzo, who each had 11 points. For La Romana, Brianney Reyes and Kiara Aristy billed six units per head.

In the men’s tournament, the South region, represented by the Laguneros de Cabral, defeated Santiago 3-1 (26-20, 25-18, 13-25, 25-14) at the Pueblo Nuevo, Villa Duarte multipurpose venue.

Misquea Moreta scored 19 and Franklin Segura son 14 to lead the attack for the champions.

In the cause lost by the Northern team, Ronny Molina scored 20 and Steven López 13.

In another match of the men’s branch, the Santo Domingo province (the Villa Carmen Club) gave an account 25-20, 25-19, 25-18 to that of Monte Plata (Bayaguana).

The Volleyball Champions Cup, whose final consists of a tour with five stops, is endorsed by the Dominican Volleyball Federation, chaired by Alexis Garcia.
