He National Institute of Professional Technical Training (Infotep), next to the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), certified six new SME advisors and recognized twelve companies that participated in the “Improvement of Quality and Productivity in SMEs in the Dominican Republic” program, in its fourth stage.

The program, which since its implementation has benefited 72 companies and has trained 35 SME advisers, has the objective of promoting changes that contribute to improving the productivity of companies, but also to manage innovation and development processes that allow them to be profitable and sustainable over time.

The activity was led by the general director of Infotep, Rafael Santos Badía, and the deputy representative of JICA in the Dominican Republic, Kenta Sasaki.

Santos Badía ratified Infotep’s commitment to accompany companies in their continuous improvement processes, which will allow them to implement actions to face the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

He added that companies accompanied for a period of 8 monthsbelong to the industrial, commerce and services sectors.

Sasaki indicated that working together with Infotep has allowed significant transformations in the SMEs that have been part of the program, since they are now more competitive.

Impacts generated
The companies that participated in the program achieved a increase in sales of between 3% and 34%, In addition, they got rid of obsolete equipment for a value of RD$140,970.65.

In addition, strategic frameworks were made, 208 employees were trained and the 5s (Seiri-classify, Seiton-order, Seiso-clean, Seiketsu-standardize and Shitsuke-maintain) were implemented, which made it possible to gain a 230mt2 space, refocus 124 job descriptions and profiles, codify equipment and machinery and optimize waste management.

The companies that received recognition are: Musitempo, Segura Automotive Solutions, Cordero Industrial, Olas Pollo, Almacenes Rivera; Impordifa, Industria Domiciliaria Dominicana (IDD), Pollos Sandies Restaurant, Pccc Pool Service Team, Marba Dominicana, Copicentro Shadday and Agua Sureña.
