Rohit Sharma's rebuke impacted Shreyas Iyer and he made another U-turn

Team India’s star batsman Shreyas Iyer has completed another U-turn. Shreyas Iyer will now play for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy semi-final match. The Mumbai Cricket Association has announced that Shreyas Iyer has made himself available for the semi-final match. However, Shreyas Iyer had earlier stated that he was not fit for the quarter-final match. However, the National Cricket Academy had made it clear that Iyer was fit to play.

Mumbai will face Tamil Nadu in the semi-finals from March 2. The Times of India report quoted MCA as saying, “Shreyas Iyer has informed the Mumbai Cricket Association that he is fully fit and will take the field to play the semi-final match.”

There was controversy surrounding Iyer

Earlier, Shreyas Iyer got a place in Team India for the Test series against England. But Iyer failed to get even a single score in two Tests. Iyer scored 35, 13, 27 and 29 runs in the first two Tests. After that, Iyer was dropped from the team. However, there were also reports that Iyer was out due to injury. But it later emerged that Iyer was fully fit and was dropped from the team.

There was also controversy over Iyer not taking part in the Ranji Trophy. BCCI has made it clear that all players who are not on national duty will have to take part in the Ranji Trophy. Team captain Rohit Sharma has also warned that there will be no place in future for players who do not take the Test format seriously. Looking at the attitude of BCCI and Rohit Sharma, one can assume that Iyer has once again made a U-turn.
