President of Honduras will address the issue of food security at the Summit

The President of Honduras, Xiomara Castrowill speak at the XXVIII Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government on food security, the environment and digital rights, the Honduran Executive reported this Thursday.

Castro, leader of the Libertad y Refundación Party (Libre, left), will speak about digital rights, the environment and "a critical path on the issue of food safety"said the vice chancellor for international cooperation and promotion of Honduras, Cindy Rodríguez.

The Honduran president traveled to the Dominican Republic on Wednesday to attend the XXVIII Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government, which will bring together its 22 member countries this Friday and Saturday in Santo Domingo, capital of the Dominican Republic.

Rodríguez indicated that the common problems of the Ibero-American countries must be addressed in the different multilateral and regional spaces to "agree and promote new solutions".

The participation of the Honduran president in the Ibero-American Summit will allow the Central American country to work "joint way" with other nations and retake "international trust"he added.

"Little by little, the president has been changing the image of the country, it has undoubtedly been a challenge, but she has recovered these spaces", stressed the Honduran vice chancellor. She specified that President Castro will present a motion at the Ibero-American Summit with special emphasis on "the access to the justice" and "against violence against women".

The Heads of State and Government participating in the summit are working on an action plan that includes eight important axes: strengthening Ibero-American cooperation; public politics; social cohesion; gender; environment; access to justice and democratization, according to the information.

The high-level meeting in Santo Domingo is organized under the motto "Together for a fair and sustainable Ibero-America"having as main topics of debate food security, the environment, digital rights and a new financial architecture.

It will be the first fully face-to-face summit since the covid-19 pandemic began, in 2020, since the one in Andorra had a mixed format.
