Portuguese news channel NOW is expanding its roster of commentators, adding a sitting mayor known for his unfiltered political analysis to its lineup.
Isaltino Morais, the Mayor of Oeiras, will begin his regular appearances on Channel 9 on October 31.
He will host a segment titled ‘Isaltino no NOW’ every Friday at 10 PM local time. Veteran journalists Pedro Mourinho and Marisa Caetano Antunes will co-host.
Morais stated he accepted NOW’s invitation to discuss national politics. He promised to speak in a “critical, honest, and without concerns of being politically correct” tone, a style he said viewers are accustomed to.

The channel is building a lineup of prominent public figures. Isaltino Morais joins Major-General Carlos Branco, another recent addition to NOW.
Major-General Branco appears on Sundays with ‘O tabuleiro do Poder’ (The Board of Power), which is part of the lunchtime news program.
