Pope Francis met this Friday with the Tech mogul, co-founder of Tesla and SpaceX and richest person in the world, Elon Musk, for about 40 minutes at his residence in Santa Marta.
It was Musk who confirmed the meeting by posting a photo on Twitter in which he is seen together with Pope Francis and four of his seven children.
The meeting took place at home Santa Marta during Friday afternoon and was not on Francisco’s official agenda, like many of the private meetings that the pontiff has with different personalities in his residence.
According to Italian media, the CEO of Tesla wanted to show the pope his vision on how to better use technology to improve the world.
“Honored to have met the pontiff,” he wrote. Musk in his tweet to comment on the photo in which he appears with four of his children, born of the first marriage with the writer Justine Wilson.
The pope and the South African nationalized American businessman agree on their concern for the environment and the low birth rate in developed countries.
