The Italian Vincenzo Nibali, winner of the 2014 Tour de France, the 2013 Giro d’Italia and the 2010 Vuelta a España, is “delighted” with his first experience in a mountain bike race, in the ‘Andalucía Bike Race’, a test in which he did not score points due to the withdrawal in the second stage of his teammate and compatriot Ivan Santaromita.
Nibali’s partner was forced to withdraw in the second stage of the Andalusian round due to mechanical problems, although he later returned to competitionwithout appearing for the general classification of a test that will conclude this Saturday in Córdoba.
Speaking to the official media of the Andalusian race, Nibali, who will later face the ‘Cape Epic’, also a mountain bike race, thanked the fans for their support in all days and pointed out that this “it allows the riders to face the stages with more enthusiasm and is one of the keys to the success of the Andalucía Bike Race”. The Italian highlighted “the beauty of the landscapes of Jaén and Córdoba and the excellent route that have made this event one of the most important in the world of mountain bikes”.
Vincenzo Nibali revealed that mountain biking is “a passion” that he has had “since he was a child”, a discipline that “unfortunately” had to leave for road cyclingfor which he was pleased that now he can “dedicate much more time to it.”
