New free zone companies with an investment of more than US$69.22 million are approved

The National Council of Export Free Zones (CNZFE) approved 15 installation permits for the same number of new companies located in various locations in the national territory, which will generate 6,489 direct jobs in the country.

In the session of the Board of Directors chaired by the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Mipymes (MICM), Victor Ito-Bisonó, the installation permit for two industrial parks was also approved, with an estimated investment of US$76,110,957.54 million and an amount of US$ $30,625,998.14 for foreign currency generation.

The executive director of the CNZFE, Daniel Liranzo, pointed out that the approved companies will be dedicated to the activities of textile manufacturing, call center services, supply of supplies and raw materials, manufacturing of real estate for the hospitality industry, manufacturing of cardboard packaging, among other.

The localities in which they will be located are the National District, Santo Domingo, Santiago, Duarte, Monseñor Nouel and San Cristóbal.

 Exports

Liranzo, referring to the behavior of the sector, reported that between January-August of this year, the value of exports from free zones was US$5,239.4 million, for a growth of 12% compared to the same period in 2021.

He also highlighted that two of the new approved companies will be installed in the Cotuí Industrial Free Zone and the San Francisco de Macorís Free Industrial Zone, both parks reactivated by the Government after more than 15 years of being out of operation.

The meeting was also attended by the Vice Minister of Free Zones of the MICM, Carlos Guillermo Flaquer; the president of the Dominican Association of Free Zones (Adozona), Luis José Bonilla Bojos; the deputy director of the CNZFE, Yarisol López, among other representatives of the sector.
