Prefecture rescued two fishermen from the waters of Punta Fría; one with symptoms of hypothermia

 Prefecture rescued two fishermen from the waters of Punta Fría;  one with symptoms of hypothermia

Next time at 2:30 p.m., prefecture Troville received a call alerting to the presence of a kayak in the area Cold point that he could not return to the coast.

At the scene, officers discovered that one of the men had symptoms of hypothermia. Both were embarked and taken to the port of Piriápolis. One of the men, a 57-year-old Venezuelan citizen, was transferred to the city’s Mautone Sanatorium polyclinic, where he was discharged.

The other fisherman, 53 years old and of French origin, was released at the scene of the accident.

The device they had gone fishing with was inflatable and unregistered.

The prefecture reported that they set sail at 10:30 a.m. in the Punta Colorada area and were carried away by the current, so they ended up in the Punta Fría area and were unable to row due to the strong current.
