The National District won for the fourth consecutive year with the highest honors this Sunday at the conclusion of the eighth version of the Dominican Republic International Swim Open & National Championship.
Those from the district obtained a score of 2,975.33 to occupy first place in the event that was held with resounding success at the Aquatic Complex of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center.
In the tournament dedicated to the coach Maritza Creus de Rodríguez, the second place went to the Antioquia Swimming League after getting 1,566.50 points, while the third place went to the La Vega Swimming Association, with 1,351.00 points.
While the fourth place in the championship corresponded to the Swimming Association of Santiago, after getting 1,237.33 points.
The Dominicans Elizabeth Jiménez and Andrés Martijena stood out for the country after achieving the best technical marks in the event that brought together the best swimmers from 12 countries.
Jiménez had a mark of 742 in the 50-meter backstroke, while Martijena registered 770 points in the 100-meter breaststroke.
“As a federation we feel very pleased to see this championship reach a safe harbor, in addition to witnessing so many talented swimmers who for three days exhibited the best of each one,” said Radhamés Tavárez, president of the Dominican Swimming Federation.

For the country, the swimmers Valentina Rivera also stood out, who established a national record after achieving 480 points in the 50-meter freestyle, on the other hand, Mauricio Espejo, did the same after achieving 413 points in the 100-meter freestyle.
Swimmers from: Colombia, Guatemala, Bolivia, Panama, Costa Rica, the United States, Puerto Rico, Haiti, Latvia, El Salvador, Cuba and the Dominican Republic participated in the event.
