A devastating homicide shook the Pororó neighborhood in Montevideo on Tuesday evening, around 8:30 pm, in an area located between Colón and Lezica. The victim, a 39-year-old man, suffered a gunshot wound to the chest, sending shockwaves through the community. As the news spread, details began to emerge of the chaotic scene that unfolded. Witnesses reported hearing gunfire and, upon stepping out of their homes, were met with the disturbing sight of the injured man lying on the street.
In a bid to save his life, one of the witnesses quickly sprang into action, rushing the victim to the nearby Saint Bois hospital on a motorcycle, which is just a few blocks away. Unfortunately, the man was admitted in a critical condition, unconscious and fighting for his life. Later, medical staff made the decision to transfer him to the Maciel hospital, where, tragically, he succumbed to his injuries at approximately 10:10 pm, according to police information obtained by News Agency.
The night’s violence didn’t end there, however. In a separate incident, a 16-year-old teenager was shot in Piedras Blancas and is currently in a grave condition. Furthermore, a woman narrowly escaped more serious harm when her home, located on Lezica, was sprayed with bullets by delinquents, resulting in her receiving a grazing wound. These incidents have left the community reeling, with many calling for greater action to address the rising concerns about safety and security in the area. As investigations into these violent events continue, residents are holding out hope for a swift resolution and an end to the senseless bloodshed.
