Microsoft is improving the snipping tool in Windows 11. With the snipping tool, which is part of the functionality of Windows 11, you can create and edit screenshots (you can read more about creating screenshots in Windows here). But in the current test version for Windows insiders, tinkerers have now discovered some new functions that the snipping tool will obviously get soon. This is reported by the IT news magazine Windowslatest.

Emoji support
Accordingly, the snipping tool also supports emojis in the current test version. You can then quickly and easily add one or more emojis to a screenshot. The snipping tool offers you a selection of emojis to choose from. You can then place and enlarge the selected emojis as you wish. The emojis can also be combined with shapes, such as here demonstrated on X/Twitter:
QR code scanner
The second innovation is the QR code scanner that the snipping tool now provides. The tool uses it to scan the screenshot and then redirects you to the corresponding link or extracts the text hidden in the QR code. The advantage: You no longer have to laboriously photograph a QR code on a screenshot with your cell phone camera and then forward the link to the PC.
HDR Screenshot Color Corrector
As a further innovation, the Snipping Tool can now also adjust the colors for screenshots on an HDR monitor. This should help reduce the sharpness of screenshots on HDR screens. In this X/Twitter post this innovation is presented:
It is still unknown when Microsoft will incorporate the innovations described above into the final version of the snipping tool for all Windows 11 users.
Microsoft has continually developed the snipping tool over the last year, including adding a text recognition function. Read more about this practical tool here:
