Manny Machado suffers a broken left hand

The San Diego Parents they have lost eight of the last ten games in the 2023 Major League Baseball season and the immediate outlook looks more complicated after losing 4-3 to the Kansas City Royals.

Manager Bob Melvin announced that Manny Machado suffered a small fracture in his left hand. during Monday’s game against the Royals. The diagnosis is still unclear and the team will know until Friday if the Dominican will spend time on the disabled list.

“Initial X-rays showed nothing. Yesterday we performed a CT scan and an MRI which showed a small fracture in the metacarpusMelvin said. “We don’t think it’s an DL situation, but we’ll wait and see how he feels and what we do over the weekend.”

The third baseman did not play Tuesday because he felt pain in his hand although the first tests came out negative and he was not part of the ninth he lost on Wednesday either.

Manny Machado Statistics

The Miami-born of Dominican descent has played 40 games for the Padres in 2023 and posts .231/.282/.372 averages with a .654 OPS after hitting 36 hits in 156 at-bats and producing 19 runs.

Machado has lined up at third base in 38 of those 40 games and of 102 fielding chances he has only made two errors. On 12 occasions he was involved in a double play.
