Luis Severino debuts this Sunday against Cincinnati

Dominican pitcher Luis Severino will debut this Sunday against the Cincinnati Reds at 11:35 in the morning, after missing the first seven weeks of action of the current season.

Severino was recovering from a low-grade right lateral strain.

Severino pitched for the last time last Tuesday in a minor league rehab session. It was his second rehab start, increasing his pitching count to 58 in 3 1/3 innings.

Severino will take the place of rotation of the Dominican Domingo Germán, who is serving a 10-game suspension for a control of foreign substances.

Severino let his frustration be known about the way the Yankees club has handled his comeback.

The team took things easy, due to the Dominican’s injury history.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone is fully confident that Severino is 100% recovered and stated that he will be able to frequently throw his pitches above 95 miles per hour.

Severino had a record in 2022 of seven wins and three losses in 19 games.
