LSU Football Star Kyren Lacy Dies by Suicide After Fatal Car Crash Charges

Kyren Lacy, a former LSU Tigers wide receiver, died Saturday night after a car crash. Police were chasing him after he didn’t stop when they pulled him over.

Lacy was set to appear before a grand jury on Monday. He was accused of causing a car accident that killed 78-year-old US Marine Herman Hall last December. Lacy had surrendered in January and was released on $151,000 bail. He faced charges of negligent homicide and reckless driving.

The events leading up to Lacy’s death began around 11 pm Saturday. He got into an argument with a family member, pulled out a gun, and fired a shot into the ground before leaving. About 30 minutes later, a police officer spotted him and tried to pull him over. Lacy didn’t stop, and the officer chased him. His car crashed, and when police arrived, they found Lacy had shot himself.

Lacy was born on December 27, 2000. He played for Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns and LSU Tigers. He was 6 feet 2 inches tall and played 25 games for Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns from 2020 to 2021. He played 39 games for LSU Tigers from 2022 to 2024.

Some people thought Lacy might be a first-round pick in the NFL draft.
