The film industry has lost another legend. Bank Janardhan, a veteran actor and comedian, passed away on April 12 at 77. He died at a private hospital in Bengaluru after struggling with age-related health issues. His family had admitted him to Manipal Hospital, where he took his last breath.
A long and illustrious career
Born in Bengaluru in 1948, Bank Janardhan was a household name in the Kannada film industry. He was known for his memorable supporting roles and impeccable comic timing. With over 500 films to his credit, he left an indelible mark on Kannada cinema.
He started acting in 1985 with the film ‘Pitamaha’. His other notable films include ‘Shhh!’ (1993), ‘Tharle Nan Maga’ (1992), and ‘News’ (2005). He was last seen on the big screen in ‘Undenamma’ (2023). The TV serial ‘Paapa Pandu’ also brought him widespread recognition.
Health struggles
Bank Janardhan had a heart attack in September 2023 but recovered after timely medical treatment. However, his health continued to decline, and he eventually succumbed to age-related issues. Fans of Kannada cinema are deeply saddened by his passing, coming just days after the demise of another veteran actor, Manoj Kumar, on April 4.
