Randeep Hooda wasn’t part of the promotional events for Imtiaz Ali’s film ‘Highway’. The buzz around the film grew when Ranbir Kapoor joined forces with Alia Bhatt and Imtiaz Ali to promote it. In a recent podcast, Randeep opened up about being sidelined during pre-release events.
Talking to Shubhankar Mishra on his YouTube podcast, Randeep shared his feelings about being kept out of ‘Highway’ promotions. He said, “I don’t know why it happened. It hurt me because if I had more support back then, my life might have been easier, and my career too.” Randeep added that he didn’t understand Ranbir Kapoor’s role in promoting the film. He jokingly said, “Maybe that’s where their affair started. I wish them luck.”
Left Out of Promotions
Randeep revealed he wasn’t part of any promotional activities. “They took me to one or two places when the film wasn’t getting traction. Maybe their strategy was to focus on Alia Bhatt since the film dealt with female exploitation.” He believes that without his character, Mahavir Bhatti, the film wouldn’t have been the same.
Reuniting with Imtiaz Ali
After ‘Highway’, Randeep worked with Imtiaz Ali again on ‘Love Aaj Kal’ (2020), which also starred Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan.
