Actor Gajraj Rao has made a special place in everyone’s heart with his strong performance. The movie ‘Badhaai Ho’ turned out to be a milestone in his career. After this, his popularity increased rapidly. Many major roles in movies began to be offered. These days he is making headlines in the movie ‘Maja Ma’. In this, he has been seen alongside Madhuri Dixit, which is a big deal for him. He never thought that he would be cast as a hero against a hero like Madhuri. He has openly talked about this in an interview.
‘Majja Ma’ is an animated family film based on an Indian wedding. Anand Tiwari has directed the film and Madhuri and Gajraj play the role of husband and wife.
In an interview with TOI, Gajraj said, “I never thought it would be possible. When Anand Tiwari first offered me the role, I thought it would be a part, but when I read the script, I realized that Madhuri’s husband has a paper. My friends in America couldn’t believe it. He called and asked: Gajju, are you sure you are chosen as Madhuri’s husband? Are you her hero?”
Gajraj further said, “I told my friends that this is not a hero-heroine story. This is a family story. I don’t belong in the Shahrukh Khan, Anil Kapoor Hero Zone. You need a certain talent for this kind of role and that’s not there.” I can act a little and I’m glad I was able to do this part.
Gajraj also said why working with Madhuri is a big deal for him. He said: ‘If you play street cricket with a tennis ball and someone tells you Gajraj, now you can play a proper match with Sachin Tendulkar at Wankhede Stadium… That was the feeling. Madhuriji is there for movies what Tendulkar is for cricket. Both are excellent in their respective arts.
Apart from Madhuri Dixit and Gajraj in the movie ‘Maja Ma’, there are many other actors including Ritvik Bhowmik, Barkha Singh, Srishti Srivastava, Rajit Kapoor, Sheeba Chadha, Simon Singh. It premiered on Prime Video on October 6. The film is receiving a mixed response.
