Ranaut also recorded her verification statement in her counterclaim filed against the screenwriter and lyricist. To record her statement in the counterclaim, the actress had obtained an order behind closed doors on a specific date in April.

Akhtar (76), in his complaint, had accused Ranaut of making defamatory statements against him in a television interview. He said that his reputation has been damaged by this. The lyricist had claimed that after actor Sushant Singh Rajput allegedly killed himself in June 2020, Ranaut had dragged his name during a TV interview while referring to him as a ‘troupe’ in Bollywood.
