- Rohit Sharma was unable to play Test 5 due to corona
- The practice began in the networks after the report came out negative
- It will be available in the T20 series
Today is the third day of the ongoing fifth test match between India and England and the Indian team has been going strong. The Indian team took a huge lead of 132 runs based on the first innings. Meanwhile, another piece of good news has arrived for the Indian team. India regular captain Rohit Sharma has fully recovered from Kovid-19 and is now ready to return to the field again.
Rohit was also released from segregation after the Kovid report came back negative. It will be available for the T20 International series from July 7. The squad for the T20 and ODI series has already been announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Rohit has been named captain of the limited overs series.
Corona was infected in the practice match against Leicestershire
Significantly, Rohit was infected with the corona virus on the second day of the practice match against Leicestershire. After this was confirmed, the 35-year-old star batsman was unable to feature in the remaining fifth test match of last year’s series against England.
Practice matches not played due to medical protocol
A senior BCCI official told the PTI news agency that yes, Rohit has been negative in the investigation. He is now out of isolation per medical protocol. He will not be part of the T20 warm-up match against Northamptonshire today as he needs to rest and practice ahead of the T20 International opening. Under medical protocol, any player after coming out of COVID-19 isolation must undergo a mandatory heart test to check lung capacity.
The Indian team was desperate to play Rohit in the current Test against England, but before the start of the match, he tested positive for COVID-19 three times. In such a situation, the team had to enter the field under the leadership of Jasprit Bumrah.
