Google Messages finally gets support for iMessage reactions

The Google Messaging app is fantastic in many ways, but a nightmare for anyone in regular contact with Apple users. This is because the Google app did not reflect the reactions of those who use iMessage.

Fortunately, this difference was finally fixed with the latest beta version of the Google Messages app. From now on, no more reaction text messages from iMessage users.

Google iMessage

It is important to note that this novelty, for now, is only available to users of the beta version of Google Messages. If you are not yet part of this program, you can find here all the information necessary.

Once in the program, no more annoying messages by transcribing the reaction your contact gave to that message. Instead of getting a message saying he loved what you said, you’ll get a corresponding emoji.

Google Messaging does not accurately reflect iMessage reactions

However, it should be noted that iMesssage reactions will not be accurately reflected in Google Messages. Instead, the latter will translate to traditional Android emojis.

For example, iMessage “heart” will translate to “face with heart eyes” on the Android side. Another example will be the transcription of the reaction “Haha” to “face with tears of joy”.

Sometimes the information reaching the Android user can be a bit more ambiguous than the straightforward nature of the symbols that characterize iMessage. Even so, it will be much better than what users have received so far.

If you still don’t like Google’s translation, you can disable the feature in the Google Messages app options. To do this, you must go to Settings – Advanced and disable the option “Show iPhone reactions as emoji”.
