Fighting in Khartoum despite the truce in Sudan

The one-week truce between military and paramilitary warring for power in Sudan officially came into force on Monday, after more than five weeks of war, a thousand dead and more than a million displaced and refugees.

Residents of the northeastern suburbs of Khartoum, however, reported fighting to AFP on Monday evening, after the official entry into force of the truce between the army of General Abdel Fattah al-Burhane and the paramilitaries of the Support Forces (FSR) of General Mohamed Hamdane Daglo.

It was not immediately clear if this ceasefire supposed to allow the passage of civilians and humanitarian aid was actually applied on the ground because the fighting, mainly in Khartoum and Darfur (west) generally weakens the night. And all day, the UN reported “fighting and troop movements.”
