The drastic improvement of Aston Martin compared to last year has led to Fernando Alonso to set his sights on his first race victory since 2013 like number 33. The 41-year-old Spanish driver has highlighted the circuits where he believes the feat is possible. “It looks like we have a car that may not be the fastest on the straights,” he told Sky F1. “We need to improve that, but we are very good in the corners. So I would say the lowest speeds in the championship, let’s say Monaco, Budapest, Singapore. These types of circuits, I think we put our main hopes right now.
Aston Martin, a strong contender
At the moment, Aston Martin takes second place in the Constructors’ Championship and, while it has outperformed Mercedes and Ferrari, it has been unable to compete against the solid form of Red Bull. The reigning champions have taken all five Grand Prix victories available so far this year and have gone largely uncontested.
Alonso maintains that his current team, Aston Martin, you need to make sure you are ready to take advantage if something goes wrong for Red Bull at some event this year. “I think at the beginning of the year, a podium was unbelievable,” Alonso said. “Now, after four podiums, we obviously want more and at least a second place.

“But you know, the two Red Bulls are always unbreakable, and they are always super fast. Red Bull is stronger, it’s faster and reliability has always been exceptional for them, finishing both cars in every race. If one day there’s a crack there, if there’s an opportunity, we need to make sure we’re in that position and don’t make any mistakes at any point over the weekend.
