Facebook registers benefits in Spain and obtains 2.7 million euros

Meta has surprised again with its results. The parent group of Facebook has achieved a profit of 2.72 million euros, compared to losses of 432,040 euros in 2020. Thus, it raised its sales by 37%, leaving behind the red numbers of 2020, marked by confinement.

The company recorded a turnover of 33 million euros. This has meant a year-on-year increase of 15% in comparable terms. This is because Facebook Spain’s revenues come from its activity as a reseller of advertising to Spanish clients of Facebook Ireland, as well as from the engineering, marketing and R&D services it provides to the Meta group. After the reform of the General Accounting Plan of 2021, this type of income changed its form of presentation, forcing net advertising income to be counted once the value of the sales support is subtracted.

On the one hand, the gross amount invoiced was 371 million euros, compared to 270 million the previous year, as stated in the accounts that have been made public in the Mercantile Registry. On the other hand, expenses as a reseller were 338 million. Thus, the rest of the group support activities totaled revenues of 16 million euros.

Regarding personnel expenses in Spain, Meta reached 22 million, compared to 20 million the previous year, while decreased the number of employees in the subsidiary from 89 to 85 workers. In 2020, the Spanish subsidiary increased labor expenses, skyrocketing by 64% and increasing the workforce by ten people.
