Everything we know about Doctor Strange in the multiverse of Madness

The public present in cinemas for Spider-Man: No Way Home had the immense privilege of discovering the highly anticipated teaser of Doctor Strange: in the multiverse of Madness of Sam raimi with its share of surprises even if most of it remains carefully hidden by Disney. Here’s everything we know about the feature film.

An impressive cast and plenty of cameos to be expected

After the gargantuan fresco of characters recalled on the occasion of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange 2 wants to go all out to excite fans even more with the opening of the multiverse. The film will include the return of part of the cast of the first installment with Benedict Cumberbatch in the role of Doctor Strange, Benedict Wong in the role of Wong, Rachel McAdams in the role of Doctor Christine Palmer and Chiwetel Ejiofor in the role of Mordo. Yes Wong returned in both Avengers then in Shang-Chi and No Way Home, Strange should have been part of the grand finale of WandaVision but was ultimately cut during editing.

Elizabeth olsen will also return in the film, where she should play a central role. Maybe not that of antagonist if we stick to the images of the trailer, where Strange and Wanda seem to ally themselves. However, we are not immune to a turnaround where Wanda could backfire on the Sorcerer Supreme if she realizes she has an opportunity to bring her children back to her reality. The film will also see the arrival of a new heroine: America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez).

Finally, recent reshoots have taken place to introduce character cameos that may delight fans of Marvel. This is the recent success of No Way Home and the explosive reactions of fans to the arrivals ofAndrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire who pushed Disney to reshape the feature film. We are talking about a new appearance of the two weavers, Charles Xavier (James McAvoy), Loki and Sylvie (Tom Hiddleston and Sophia DiMartino), Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) or even Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds).

The synopsis and the potential villain

Intrinsically linked to Loki and Spider-Man: No Way Home, the plot of Multiverse of Madness will organize itself in a world where the dimensions are all out of order to the point where a lot of multiversal characters are expected to appear. Rumors speak of an arrival of Magneto (Michael Fassbender or a new actor) and maybe even a new one Reed richards. According to Backstage, Strange will continue his research around the Stone of Time, destroyed by Thanos in Avengers: Endgame. He will face powerful enemies: From Shuma-Gorath to his old ally Mordo (Chiwetel Eijofor) who no longer seems to be on the same side as the former surgeon.

Backstage describes that the movie’s biggest villain will be a former ally turned enemy. The rumors all rely on the identity of Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) as a villain filling all of these boxes, but the Scarlet Witch might have learned from her mistakes during the problem Westview. Finally, the role of Mordo seems too mysterious still to be considered as a major figure of the enemies of Strange in this film.

The first teaser reveals at its very end the arrival of the Supreme Doctor Strange, an evil and multiversal variant of the character. The latter could set in motion a fight with enormous stakes for the multiverse. Introduced in the animated series What If …?, the greatest danger in the universe, as explained Mordo in the teaser, could well be Strange himself.

Introduced with great fanfare in WandaVision under the guise ofEvan peters, who played the super fast character in X-Men: Days of Future Past, Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix, Quicksilver was not real. It was a creation ofAgatha Harkness, who had taken control of a comedian unknown to the battalion called Ralph boner. This was a nice snub from the showrunner regarding the multiverse. No it is not WandaVision who was going to start everything as was hoped by many fans, but well Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Thereby, Quicksilver should probably appear as a cameo in this film but asAaron Taylor-Johnson. Since the character is a landmark in the development of Wanda, we should see him again.
