Dominican Delegation will travel with Arajet to Central American Games

The Dominican Olympic Committee (COD) and the airline Arajet, signed an agreement to become the official airline of the Dominican delegation that will participate in the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games, to be held next June in San Salvador, El Salvador. .

The announcement was made this Thursday at the COD headquarters with the presence of the president of the sports body, Garibaldi Bautista; the Minister of Sports, Francisco Camacho, and the CEO and founder of Arajet, Víctor Miguel Pacheco, who reported that this agreement will benefit more than 600 athletes and their technical staff, who will travel non-stop to San Salvador on modern and new Boeing aircraft 737 max 8.

“For Arajet it is a pride to be able to collaborate with Dominican sports and support all the athletes who raise our flag in competitions around the world, for this reason today we make available our direct routes from Santo Domingo to Central and South America as a way to promote the development of the sport ahead of the San Salvador Games”, expressed Pacheco.

Pacheco stressed that Arejet “is proud to become the official airline of the Dominican athlete.”

Minister Camacho stated that originally the delegation planned to invest some 52.0 million pesos to cover the delegation’s air transportation and through this agreement that amount was reduced to 19.0 million.

“Approaching Arajet has meant lowering the costs of air tickets by 60 or 70 percent,” said Camacho, who referred to the transparency of the Government and thinking about the comfort of the athletes.

The sports authorities explained the importance of having an official airline since it guarantees non-stop connectivity to mobilize athletes to the competition, ensuring their comfort and tranquility and with a lower price for the State.

“And from now on we can announce that this agreement with Arajet will cover more than the Central American and Caribbean games, but that we will extend it to the Pan American Games in Santiago de Chile and other international competitions on the Continent, so that this Dominican flag carrier will become the official airline of the national teams” explained Garibaldi Bautista, president of the COD, who added that “this will allow more athletes to compete and achieve their dreams internationally. That is why from the COD we have always defended that when the public and private sectors come together through the Olympic Committee, only good things can happen for our athletes and federations”.

The J XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games of 2023, will be a regional multi-sport event that will take place between June 23 and July 8, 2023 in the capital of El Salvador, San Salvador.

Similarly, the Dominican delegation will also participate this year in the 2023 Pan American Games in October in Santiago de Chile.

The agreement was also praised by Luis Chanlatte, general secretary of the COD, as well as by Rafael Uribe, president of the Dominican Basketball Federation and Juan Núñez Nepomuceno, president of the Dominican Baseball Federation.
