Recently in theaters with his latest film, A great race (2022), with Line Renaud and Dany Boon, screenwriter and director Christian Carion is retraining. Yet accustomed to ceremonies and award ceremonies, Christian Caron has reviewed his sense of priorities. He has thousands of vines to plant right now. “It’s funny all my friends are in Cannes and I’m there. Cannes, there will be some every year but the planting is now“, he explains.

Reconnect to the earth

The agricultural world was already in the cÅ“ur from his first film A swallow made the spring (2001). Going into the vineyards is also a way for the director to keep his feet on the ground. “With this global warming, we will be able to do things that we would not have imagined thirty, forty years ago. That’s the starting point for me. These lands of my parents where they grew wheat, potatoes, endives, today they will be vines“, he says.

With his wife, they decided to plant three new grape varieties, an experiment which they hope will bear fruit. “We try three new grape varieties, pinot gris from Alsace, chenin blanc from the Loire, pinot noir from Burgundy, we’ll see which one works well, maybe the three will give something“, hopes Laure Irremann, companion of Christian Caron, also an actress and producer. For the first tastings, you will have to be patient and wait at least four years.
