Crypto Fraudsters Breach YouTube Account of Prestigious News Organization

Crypto Scammers Hack Australian Broadcaster 7News’ YouTube Channel

Deep Fake

Crypto scammers gained access to the entire account of Australian broadcaster 7News on YouTube, renaming the channel to Tesla and using a deep fake video of Tesla CEO Elon Musk. The scammers created multiple live streams, displaying a QR code that claimed to give away cryptocurrency. The video was created using artificial intelligence, making it appear real.

More than 100,000 Views

The live streams generated over 150,000 views, with a possibility that bots were also watching. Scammers often use bots to make their scams appear more credible. It is unclear whether anyone has fallen victim to the scam, but the promise of doubling bitcoin is a well-known scam.

7News Responds

During the hack, all links to 7News were broken, but the verification checkbox remained. A verification link is used to confirm the identity of the news channel, making it appear more credible. 7News is investigating the incident with YouTube and hopes to resolve it as soon as possible.

Elon Musk and Crypto Scams

Elon Musk is a popular figure in fake videos, and it is becoming more common for crypto scammers to use his fame and positive views on crypto to their advantage. Just be warned, if something seems too good to be true, it often is a scam.
