Council Urges Fans in Oviedo

Mayor Canteli and the Oviedo City Council 'push' the fans

No one wants to be left out of supporting Real Oviedo in their attempt to return to the First Division. In fact, the city council of the Asturian capital has announced that it will sponsor the buses chartered by the Association of Peñas Azules del Real Oviedo (APARO) with 18,000 euros and thus lower the price that the fans who travel in them will have to pay to cheer on the team next Sunday in Cornellá.

“We are aware of the importance and being in the year of gastronomy, we are going to use these trips to promote Oviedo as the gastronomic capital of Spain and there will be 18,000 euros that will help the people of Oviedo to travel to Catalonia,” explained the mayor of the city, Alfredo Canteli.

The Antivolence Commission has declared the second leg of the final for promotion to LaLiga EA Sports between Espanyol and Real Oviedo “high risk”, which will be played on Sunday at the Stage Front Stadium in Cornellà El Prat (Barcelona).

The mayor of the Asturian capital highlighted the support given by the fans to the team throughout the season: “I want to thank them for the enormous work they have done to support the team and put it where it is today and that everything will be consolidated on Saturday with a great party in Oviedo.”

The mayor emphasized that a promotion would be key for everyone: “It is very important for us, for the club and for Asturias because we don’t close ourselves in and those who come to football will go to other locations.”

The city council’s decision to sponsor the buses has been well received by the vice president of APARO, Jaime Campillo, who said that it helps a lot, especially for those who do not have the financial availability to pay for private planes or cars.

The trip is already outlined, with buses leaving at 11pm and costing 30 euros. The warmth that the fans are transmitting to the team exceeds what has been experienced in recent years, with Campillo estimating that there will be around 1,500 fans attending the match, many of whom will be without tickets.

The atmosphere is guaranteed, with Campillo hoping that the strength of Oviedismo will be what makes the difference. When asked about a possible celebration, both the mayor and Campillo said that they would organize one if there is a promotion.
