Conor McGregor's support for Katie Taylor

Katie Taylor (22-0-0, 6 KO) is one of the most famous athletes in Ireland along with Conor McGregor. The UFC star offered his financial help so that the champion could fight in Dublin. This Saturday, May 20, Taylor will face Chantelle Cameron (17-0-0-8 KO) for the undisputed super lightweight title. It is the first time the Irishwoman will fight as a professional boxer in her native country. McGregor has already announced on social networks that she will attend the event.

“I have a couple of mega releases from Katie Taylor for this week, for our Katie’s fight! Several days in a row! But first I want to announce that I have 22 tickets for the match, in the exclusive ‘G Cash’ seats. I just need a seat for myself. So 21. Join the ‘G Cash’ team if you want to see and support our Katie’s fight in these prestigious seats. And only, of course, if you can contact me personally. Have a seat,” McGregor shared on his Twitter account.

The former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion and Katie Taylor met in October 2018in the locker room before the boxer went up to the ring to face cindy serrano (27-6-3, 10 KO), the sister of Amanda Serrano (44-2-1, 30 KO). The Irishman prevailed by unanimous decision in Boston and retained her IBF and WBA lightweight belts. McGregor showed her support for her before the match. “I’m here for you Katie, only for you,” she told him as she shook her hand. Since then, the Irishman has always shared words of support for his compatriot.

Conor McGregor spoke with Eddie Hearn, Matchroom’s promoter and director, and offered his help so that Taylor could fight in Ireland. “It is not the rent (of the venue), it is the associated cost. An additional cost beyond what you would expect to pay. It could be security, it could be the workers, it could be preparing the pitch… Could be all kinds of different things, but the total cut is three times greater than the staging at Wembley. It’s an opportunity to create a historic event, and we’d still like to, but unfortunately, we don’t have the time,” Hearn told ESPN.

Katie Taylor could make history this Saturday. She wants to become the second female boxer to become undisputed in two weight classes. (The only one who has achieved it is Claressa Shields, in the middle and super middle). She has moved up to super lightweight and will face chantelle cameron for their belts. The British will do the first defense of his undisputed against one of the best fighters in the world.
