The Cibao Giants sign nine players in free agency after completing the 2022 rookie draft, including six pitchers, two infielders and one catcher.
The information was offered by the General Manager Jesús Mejía, who expressed his satisfaction with the arrival of the new players to the Gigantes del Cibao.

Among the new Giants are the names of six right-handed pitchers Adrián Alcántara, Tyrone Yulié, Leury Tejeda, Oliver García, Enrique Santana and veteran Jheyson Manzueta.
Adrian Alcantara,23-year-old right-handed pitcher born in Santo Domingo who belongs to the Kansas organization. In 2022 he pitched in class A and AA, where he went 8-5, with a 4.95 ERA over 24 games, 18 as a starter, where he worked 116 innings, allowing 115 hits, with 40 walks granted and struck out 130 batters with his WHIP at 1.33
Tyrone Yulie,21-year-old right-hander who belongs to the Yankees and a native of La Romana, who worked in class A in 2022, where he went 5-10 with a 5.60 ERA in 22 games as a starter.
He worked 87 innings, allowing 73 hits, with 55 walks and 155 strikeouts, leaving his WHIP at 1.47.
Leury Tejeda,Right-handed pitcher born in Santiago, he belongs to the Texas Rangers, where he worked in Class A and A+ during 2022, going 7-5, with a 4.98 ERA in 37 games as a reliever.
He worked in 72.1 innings, where he allowed 79 hits, granting 27 walks and struck out 77 batters leaving his WHIP at 1.47
Oliver Garcia,San Francisco de Macoris-born 24-year-old right-hander who missed much of the season in the minor leagues but wound up working at the AA level with the Pirates.
In three games as a reliever he pitched 4.0 three-hit innings, walking two and striking out six batters.
Enrique Santana24-year-old right-hander, born in Santo Domingo who belongs to the Yankees and during 2022 was in class A and A+
He went 0-1 with a 1.82 ERA in 26 games as a reliever, posted three HLDs in 29.2 innings of work, where he allowed 25 hits, walked 28 and struck out 35 batters with a 1.79 WHIP.
Jheyson Manzuetathis 32-year-old veteran right-hander, had already been drafted in 2013 by the Cibao Giants, he was even briefly on the team during the 2014-15 season, he is back with a new opportunity.
Two infielders
Vianel Pena,INF, 21 years old, works normally in the SS, is a native of Azua and bats from both sides of the plate.
In the minors with the Washington Nationals (A and A+) he participated during 2022 in 108 games, batting an average of .229 with an OBP of .329, had 90 hits, including 16 doubles, eight triples and six home runs.
The speedy player swindled 34 bases, scored 68 times and drove in 52 runs, also receiving 60 walks.
Wander Javier,Infielder who also works in the SS, a native of Bonao and 23 years old who belongs to the Minnesota Twins where he was in 2022 at the A+ and AAA level.
In 112 games he played, he had an average of .210 with an OBP of .274, after connecting 84 hits, including 14 doubles, five triples and 13 homers with 62 RBIs.
A 22-year-old catcher
Finally, among the team’s signings is the 22-year-old catcher Wilkin Gullón, who belongs to the Baltimore Orioles, where he was in 2022 at the class A and A+ level in 36 games, batting .204 with an OBP of .283.
Grullón hit seven doubles, three homers and drove in 11 runs.
