Chinese President visits Saudi Arabia, signing 34 agreements in both countries

Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the Royal Palace in Riyadh on Thursday.

Prince Mohammed bin Salman welcomed the Chinese President upon his arrival at the royal palace, bilateral relations and other issues were discussed between the two leaders.

Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Riyadh on Wednesday evening on a three-day visit to Saudi Arabia at the invitation of Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz.

According to Saudi media, 34 agreements between Saudi and Chinese companies were signed on Wednesday evening to increase bilateral cooperation and partnership at the beginning of Chinese President Xi’s visit.

These agreements are related to green energy, green hydrogen, photovoltaic energy, information technology, cloud services, transportation, logistics, medical industries and housing sectors.

Saudi Minister of Investment Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih said that these agreements are in line with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s Vision 2030.

Engineer Al-Falih said that President Xi’s visit to Saudi Arabia shows how important the leadership of both sides is to the strengthening of bilateral relations and partnership in development. After this visit, the speed of cooperation and development in economic and investment sectors between the two countries will increase.

It should be remembered that the trade volume between China and Saudi Arabia was 80 billion dollars last year, which has reached 270 billion dollars this year. President Xi’s visit will continue until December 9.

According to media reports, the Chinese President’s visit to Riyadh will also include the Sino-Arab Summit and the China-GCC Conference. At least 14 Arab heads of state are expected to participate in the Sino-Arab Summit. It has been called a “milestone” for the relationship.
