Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson takes down criticism from the Ethereum community in a nine-post Twitter thread. “There seems to be a bizarre parallel world where everything Cardano has done is labeled a worthless scam that is anything but innovative,” Hoskinson said.
Ethereum Developers Ignored Cardano
According to Hoskinson, it is important and healthy for developers to compare the platform they work for with other designs. In Hoskinson’s view, the developers of Ethereum have done their best to ignore Cardano in recent years. The Cardano founder sees that as an unnecessary source of tension and competition in the crypto world. “But I don’t think it matters, because in the end Cardano is going to change the world,” said an optimistic Hoskinson.
The brain behind Cardano, who was also involved in the creation of Ethereum, sees the potential for the network to attract billions of users. For that, Hoskinson doesn’t even expect to need the Bitcoin or Ethereum maximalists. “The reality is that Cardano does not need users of other cryptocurrencies. The Mass Adoption of Crypto Hasn’t Happened Yet […] we can grow to millions of users without taking over one from Bitcoin or Ethereum,” he continues.
“Our community deserves better”
It should come as no surprise that Hoskinson’s views are especially well taken up in the Cardano community. From the angle of Ethereum, it is mainly critical. So is Anthony Sassano, founder of The Daily Gwei and co-founder of EthHub. Sassano thinks that Hoskinson is especially desperate to get the attention of Vitalik Buterin.
Incidentally, both Ethereum and Cardano have recently undergone a major upgrade. Ethereum switched to Proof-of-stake after the Merge on September 15, while Cardano’s Vasil hard fork went live a week later. Both platforms are taking major steps to prepare themselves for a future in which billions of people use the technology.
