Serie del Caribe 2023: Tras vencer a Panamá, Dominicana se enfrentará a Colombia

The Tigres del Licey defeated the Federales de Chiriquí, from Panama, 10-1 on Monday, in the fifth day of the Caribbean Series, which puts the Dominicans in the fight for the four places in the semifinals that will be played this Thursday , without any team having the pass secured yet.

The beating of the Dominicans, which took place at the Jorge Luis García Carneiro stadium, in the coastal state of La Guaira, grew stronger as they resumed the turn at bat.

The fair of hits began in the third inning with a double by Gustavo Núñez and a home run by Yamaico Navarro. Two innings later, Emilio Bonifacio hit a double to right field, with which he drove in the fourth and fifth runs of the game.

The sixth stripe also came in the sixth part due to a succession of tickets handed out by Federal Elvin Liriano, while his teammate Carlos Daniel Rodríguez starred in two wild pitches in the eighth that ended with the seventh score for the Tigers.

When the Panamanians had made 26 outs, the Dominicans added three runs thanks to a line double by Mel Rojas Jr. and a single by Kelvin Gutiérrez that served to complete the ninth and tenth round of the diamond.

This Tuesday, the Tigres del Licey will have their penultimate chance of the regular round in a duel against Colombia, who have also won three games so far, while Panama will try to revive their hopes by facing Mexico, who so far lead the table along with Venezuela.
