Canapino makes its debut in the IndyCar Series

The Argentine Agustín Canapino (Dallara-Chevrolet) will start this Sunday in the twenty-first position in the opening test of the season of the United States IndyCar Series, after the classification developed this Saturday at the street racetrack in St. Petersburg.

The 33-year-old pilot from Reef was ranked eleventh among fourteen competitors from group number 1 who took to the track. “For my first experience in the category I am quite happy. It was better than expected,” said Canapino, four-time champion of Road Tourism (2010, 2017, 2018 and 2019), to the official broadcast of the US monoposto category. “Honestly it could have been a lot better, but it was my first time on these soft tires and at this circuit,” he described. “I have to improve a lot, but I think it’s a good start and tomorrow I’ll try to finish the race and get some points”, Canapino was excited.

The Argentine’s teammate, the British Callum Illot, took eleventh place in the second qualifying group, with a time of 1m. 00s. 386/1000.

The starting pole position for the race that will begin this Sunday at 2:20 p.m. in Argentina was for the former Formula 1 driver, Frenchman Romain Grosjean (Dallara-Honda), with a time of 59s. 553/1000.
