Marc Roig Tió knows what he is talking about when he talks about the alien Eliud Kipchoge. The man from Barcelona has shared many hours with the African phenomenon, sharing multiple aspects in Kenya: running with him, participating in his training sessions or treating him in a physiotherapy shirt. Roig is also the elite international selector for the Valencia Marathon and in a talk with the press he has been explicit in telling what his biggest dream is for the future in a race that grows exponentially year after year.

“Bringing Kipchoge to Valencia is not impossible. He goes race by race and doesn’t finish any marathon before finishing the one he’s preparing. In 2023 he has already announced that he will run in Boston (April 17th). When that date passes, New York and Valencia will fight to try to bring him to our respective tests. It is very difficult to achieve it, but we have a high-quality test and the necessary budget. If everything fits into his plans… it could happen. I’m certainly going to try it. I have ever asked Eliud directly and he tells me that he would come before retiring; Hopefully what he tells me is true, either in 2023 or 2024 ″, assures Roig.
