Irresponsible health policy, criminal breaches, suspicion of corruption … In Brazil, the responsibility of President Jair Bolsonaro is at the heart of the parliamentary investigation report on the management of Covid-19. With 600,000 deaths, it is the most bereaved country in the world behind the United States. Yet the Brazilian president has always denied the seriousness of the epidemic.

The pandemic is really coming to an end, the numbers show. We now have a small uptick, what they call a small resurgence, that can happen, but the vaccine rush is not justified.“, affirmed Jair Bolsonaro in dDecember 2020. He is accused of 11 crimes, including crimes against public health, genocide of indigenous people, charlatanism and crimes against humanity. The parliamentary commission of inquiry also accuses him of his support for the Prevent Senior hospital group, suspected of having carried out experiments without the knowledge of patients with hydroxychloroquine treatments and of having minimized the number of deaths linked to Covid- 19. If the commission has no judicial power, the International Criminal Court would have the means to prosecute Jair Bolsonaro for crimes against humanity.
