BCCI Secretary Jay Shah Confirms Indian Team’s Departure Date from Barbados

When will the Indian team leave from Barbados, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah gave a big update

Cricket: Indian Team Stuck in Barbados After T20 World Cup Victory

The Indian cricket team has not yet been able to leave Barbados for India after winning the T20 World Cup 2024 against South Africa on June 29. The team won the final match by 7 runs at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados.

A warning of severe category cyclonic storm was issued in Barbados, which has resulted in the closure of all airports on the island. No information has been provided about when the airports will reopen.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, who is with the team in Barbados, has announced plans to evacuate the players and media personnel safely. The team was originally scheduled to leave via chartered plane on Monday, but the airport closures have disrupted those plans. As soon as the airport operations resume, the team will fly to America or Europe and then on to India after refueling.

Plan to Bring Everyone Back Directly to India via Chartered Plane

"We are planning to take the Indian players and everyone else from here by chartered plane on Monday, but the airports were closed before that," Shah said. "We are in touch with the companies operating chartered aircraft, so as soon as the airport operations resume, we will fly to America or Europe."

Team May Leave After July 2

Shah further informed that the plan is to fly directly to India after refueling in America or Europe. The airport authorities have informed that it may remain closed till Tuesday afternoon. If the weather improves significantly, it may open earlier. The wind speed needs to be low for flight operations to resume.
