Babar Azam: First, Ben Stokes said goodbye to ODI cricket, then Trent Boult demanded to stay away from the center contract. When a Pakistani journalist riding this wave asked his team captain, Babar Azam, a question, he got little answer. The journalist asked if they, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi, shouldn’t play only two formats to control their workload? This question was asked at the press conference held before the Pakistani team left for the tour of the Netherlands, where they have to play a series of 3 ODIs from 16th August. journalist: You, Rizwan and Shaheen are the stars of the team, the pride of Pakistani cricket. The way we lost the second test against Sri Lanka, don’t you think we were under pressure, you guys had more workload? Wouldn’t it be nice if you guys only play two formats?
Babar Azam: It depends on your physical form. With the kind of fitness we’re in now, we haven’t thought about just playing two formats. Why do you think I’ve grown old? Or have we grown old?
journalist: The load is too much for you, isn’t it?
Babar Azam: I do not think so. If the load is higher, we will increase our fitness accordingly.
Babar Azam continuously plays all Pakistan matches in all formats. They are in excellent shape. He is the only batsman in the world whose name is included in the top three batsmen in the rankings of all three formats of the game. He ranks first in ODI and T20 and third in Tests.
