The VPN provider Atlas has announced that it will finally discontinue its service after sufficient consideration. Subscribers currently using the service will be switched to a sister company’s service.
But why is the service actually being closed? Atlas made the following statement: “Atlas VPN was founded with the aim of providing secure, accessible and user-friendly VPN services. Despite our best efforts and the incredible support of our users, we have encountered insurmountable challenges. These include rapidly evolving technological demands, a highly competitive market and the increasing costs of providing world-class services. Based on these factors, we have concluded that continued operation of Atlas VPN is not sustainable in the long term.”
Customers will be switched to NordVPN
The service will be permanently discontinued from April 24, 2024. Customers currently using the service will automatically be switched to their service for the remainder of their subscription, thanks to a partnership with sister company NordVPN. The aim is to ensure that paying customers can continue to use an uninterrupted, secure VPN service.
If you subscribed to Atlas VPN through Google Play Store or Amazon, your subscription will be managed by the respective store to ensure a smooth transition to NordVPN. If you subscribed to the service through Apple’s App Store, you will receive a refund for the remainder of your Premium subscription and your account will be canceled on April 25th.
