The first quarter of 2025 is behind us, and sales figures are starting to trickle out. One game is making waves: Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Despite no official numbers, it’s clear this game is a hit. Millions of players jumped in during its launch.
Analysts like Circana Mat Piscatella are taking note. He says Assassin’s Creed Shadows is already a top 5 best-seller for 2025. It’s in good company, alongside Monster Hunter Wilds, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, and Civilization 7.
But that’s not all – Assassin’s Creed Shadows is also the second most profitable game per unit sold in the first quarter of 2025. Only Monster Hunter Wilds beats it. Ubisoft reports 3 million players in the first week, with day-one sales that are the second-highest in Assassin’s Creed history.
Game Success Doesn’t Always Mean Company Success
Even with Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ success, Ubisoft’s stock prices keep falling. There’s talk of a new company, backed by Tencent, which could shake things up. It’s unclear if the game’s success will be enough to turn things around for Ubisoft.
