Amazon plans to launch a delivery service in the US and Europe

Amazon keeps trying to put its claws in the food sector. One of the sectors that grew the most online during the pandemic was food. This has not gone unnoticed by Amazon (he always knows where to put his claws) which now plans to expand a food delivery service at home.

As has been learned, the Marketplace has been testing the service in the UK for about a year now. Service Amazon Fresh Marketplace, which is what the American company has called it, allows British consumers with a Prime subscription to receive the products they order online in supermarket chains Morrisons Y Co-op. Orders delivered the same day by Amazon Flex couriers.

The communication medium The Information was the first to announce that Amazon plans to expand the online food ordering and delivery program to all Europe and the United States throughout 2022.

Amazon for now has not said anything officially about the launch of this service in other countries, but it has given an answer to the medium Engadget: “Our focus is to give Amazon customers the best possible experience when it comes to grocery delivery, whether it’s from Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods Market , or one of our local stores like Bartell’s in Seattle, Morrison’s in London or Monoprix in Paris”. In addition, the spokesperson added that “Partnerships with other supermarkets allow more customers to shop online and allow us to provide Amazon Prime members with more choice, value and convenience, while our partners benefit from greater visibility of their selection and service“.

Amazon will enter a sector with great competition among which are companies such as Gorillas, Flink, Uber, DoorDash or with the service EE.USA. Instacart.

Amazon knows the food industry well. One of the large acquisitions of the company was the American supermarket chain Whole Foods for $ 13.7 billion. In addition, it has developed other projects such as Amazon Go or Amazon Fresh, which we have available in Spain and where they collaborate with Dia supermarkets.
