Spanish golf celebrates the historic milestone achieved by Madrid golfer Alejandro de Miguel, who this weekend was proclaimed world champion of golf for the blind in the World Cup that was held at the Milnerto Golf Club in Cape Town (South Africa).
From Miguel, 30 years old, it became with the title in the B1 category for totally visually impaired players together with his guide Javier Parrilla after finishing the two rounds with 118 and 117 blows for a total of 235 blows, leading the Israeli Zohar Sharon by 10 blows and the South Korean Dong Sik Im by 39.
This is a new success for Alejandro de Miguel, who last year He already became the first Spaniard to win the British Open for people with visual disabilities and the first Spaniard to compete in the Ryder Cup for blind golfers.
De Miguel’s title has not been the only joy for Spanish golf in these Golf World Cups for the Blind, since in the male B2 class Marc Oller finished in fifth position with a total of 206 strokes in a tournament in which Englishman Andy Gilford won with a total of 177 strokes.
