Al Horford scores 13 with 10 rebounds, Celtics lose

LaMelo Ball had a triple-double with 15 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the Charlotte Hornets to a 111-102 victory over the Boston Celtics on Wednesday.

Terry Rozier led Charlotte with 28 points, Miles Bridges had 22 and Kelly Oubre Jr. added 18. The Hornets won for the ninth time in 12 games.

Dennis Schröder led Boston with 24 points. Jaylen Brown added 21 and Al Horford added 13 with 10 rebounds.

Boston star Jayson Tatum got into foul trouble and had just 12 points on 5-for-19 shooting in 35 minutes. The Celtics had won five of six.

Boston cut a 12-point deficit to 88-84 early in the fourth quarter but Charlotte scored 10 of the next 14 to take a 98-88 lead on Oubre’s 3-pointer from the left flank with 4:55 remaining.

Ball had hit a 3-pointer from the left corner two minutes earlier.

The Celtics pulled within 102-96 on Horford’s 3-pointer with 2:48 remaining, but Ball responded with another off the Boston bench. Rozier followed with another on the Hornets’ next possession.

Boston cut the margin to six again, but Rozier hit another 3-pointer to end the game in the final minute.

Ball completed the triple-double with a rebound with 0.2 seconds remaining.
